ARTES: UK National Delegate Support for the “Aerial Connectivity” Call

Deadline: Friday 1st September 2023

his is a defined call, with up to £20,000,000 of funding being made available to develop connectivity solutions in the fields of HAPS (High-Altitude Platforms), HALE (High-Altitude Long Endurance) and Drones. No upper or lower limit has been set for individual projects. The call is being run in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA).

All projects must include a compelling element of matched funding to be eligible under the programme. Further details on matched funding and other eligibility requirements are contained in the guidance document.

Improving Observation Capabilities of Biodiversity in UK Waters

Deadline: Wednesday 6th September 2023

UK organisations can apply for a share of up to £750k for innovation projects to improve monitoring of UK marine assets.

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will work with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to invest up to £1.5 million in grant funding across 3 years. This funding is for innovation projects that can improve the observation capabilities of the UK’s waters, towards improved assessment and evaluation of the status and risks to natural capital assets

Knowledge transfer partnerships (KTP): 2023 to 2024 Round 4

Deadline: Wednesday 6th September 2023

UK registered academic institutions, RTOs or Catapults can apply for a share of up to £9 million to fund innovation projects with businesses or not for profits.The KTP partnership brings new skills and the latest academic thinking into the business partner to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project. The knowledge base partner recruits the ‘associate’ to work on the project. The associate has the opportunity to lead a strategic development within the business developing new skills and gaining valuable experience.

Innovate UK Unlocking Potential Award 2023

Deadline: Wednesday 6th September 2023

The Innovate UK Unlocking Potential Award is a two strand pilot competition that aims to empower today’s untapped innovators and businesses to increase investment in diverse talent across the UK. It aims to level the playing field and unlock potential for innovation by supporting and funding innovators from groups that are currently underrepresented or overlooked in innovation. The first part of this call Begin will allow you to  make your business idea a reality. The award will include a grant for £5,000, a living allowance and tailored business support.

Part two Build will allow small businesses to apply for an award which will include a grant of £50,000 and tailored business support.

Innovate UK Innovation Loans Future Economy

Deadline: Wednesday 13th September 2023

Innovate UK is offering up to £25 million in loans to micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Loans are for highly innovative late stage research and development (R&D) projects with the best potential for the future. There should be a clear route to commercialisation and economic impact.

Your project must lead to innovative new products, processes or services that are significantly ahead of others currently available, or propose an innovative use of existing products, processes or services. It can also involve a new or innovative business model.

Eurostars 3 - Call 5

Deadline: Thursday 14th September 2023

Eurostars is part of the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs. The partnership is co-funded by the European Union through Horizon Europe.

Eurostars is a funding instrument that supports innovative SMEs and project partners (large companies, universities, research organisations and other types of organisations) by funding international collaborative R&D and innovation projects. By participating, organisations can access public funding for international collaborative R&D projects in all fields.

ESA Business Incubation Centre

Deadline: Friday 18th September 2023

The ESA Business Incubation Centre United Kingdom (ESA BIC UK) is part of ESA Space Solutions and provides start-ups with technical expertise and facilities, business support, networking, office space and funding needed to overcome innovation challenges and accelerate business growth.

Each year supporting start-ups working in sectors including aerospace, healthcare, energy, agriculture and digital technology.

Future of Work for Sustainable Growth

Deadline: Friday 22nd September 2023

The “future of work” describes the evolution of work, workforce and workplace in the coming years, influenced by technological, generational and social shifts. It is anticipated that by 2030 digital technologies including 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud and edge computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics and Augmented Reality (AR)/ Virtual Reality (VR)/ Mixed Reality (MR)/ Extended Reality (XR) will be at the core of new products, new manufacturing processes and new business models, based on fair sharing of data in the data economy.

Kick-Start activities are 75% funded by the European Space Agency up to a maximum of €60K per contract.

Innovation in Professional & Financial Services R2 Single

Deadline: Wednesday 27 September 2023

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £5 million in innovation projects. The aim of this will be to advance the Professional and Financial Services sectors by supporting them in the creation and adoption of digital approaches and new digitally supported services.

This competition is split into 2 strands:

  • Innovation in Professional and Financial Services – single applicants (this strand)

  • Innovation in Professional and Financial Services – collaboration
