InCubed2 - Innovation in Public Services with Satellite Earth Observation

Deadline: Thursday, 12th September 2024

The UK Space Agency and ESA are running a new call for proposals for the ESA Earth Observation (EO) programme, InCubed2. Interested UK entities are invited to submit proposals that look to develop innovative and commercially viable products and services that generate or exploit the value of Earth observation imagery and datasets.

India-UK Joint Opportunity in Telecommunications Research

Deadline: Tuesday, 24th September 2024

This international joint funding opportunity in telecoms research will support projects to further develop and strengthen the network and research collaboration between UK-based and India-based researchers.

Projects are expected to link and run concurrently to the continuation of the UK-India Future Networks Initiative. It should have two project leads, one based at a UK research organisation and one at an India research organisation eligible for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Department of Science & Technology India (DST) funding, respectively.

Rocketry, Research, Teaching and Training PhD Hub (R2T2) - Cohort Two

Deadline: Wednesday, 2nd October 2024

Apply for funding to develop rocketry PhDs as part of the UK Space Agency (UKSA) Rocketry, Research, Teaching and Training Hub (R2T2), collaborating with STFC as the delivery partner. R2T2 has the purpose of delivering PhDs with both academic and skills-based training elements, providing students with the opportunity to participate in the practical aspects of rocketry and spend time in industry.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for STFC funding.

UKSA has provided funding for cohort one and is now extending the opportunity for cohort two.

The funding for cohort two is to support a four-year PhD.

ESA - Nature-Based Solutions

Deadline: Wednesday, 6th November 2024

This ‘Nature-based Solutions’ opportunity provides funding to teams who would like to develop a service related to nature-based solutions applications. Funding will be provided by the European Space Agency (ESA) for 6-month studies called ‘Kick-Starts’, which can lead onto larger scale Demonstration Projects. Kick-Starts are funded at 75% by ESA for a maximum of €75K per contract. Proposed services must use satellite data or space-based technologies.

General Support Technology Programme (GSTP)

Deadline: Open Until Further Notice

The General Support Technology Programme addresses new needs and emerging applications. Its objectives are to enable activities at ESA and National Programmes by developing technology, to support the competitiveness of UK and European industry, foster innovation and transfer non-space technology (spin-in) to use in the design of new space systems and enhance European technology non-dependence and the availability of European resources for critical technologies.

ESA BIC Programme

Deadline: Sunday 1st of September 2024

The ESA Business Incubation Centre United Kingdom (ESA BIC UK) is part of ESA Space Solutions and provides start-ups with technical expertise and facilities, business support, networking, office space and funding needed to overcome innovation challenges and accelerate business growth.
